Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center is one of only nine new U.S. hospitals to come out of the ground in 2005. The state-of-the-art, 326,000 square foot facility is a part of a fully master planned medical campus and offers an unprecedented continuum of care for the entire northern Nevada region. Nationally recognized in cardiology, Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare now offers diagnostic treatment to include open-heart surgery, as well as full cardiac rehabilitation programs. The Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, the only free-standing cancer in the State of Nevada, has earned an unprecedented nine notes of commendation for its integrated pioneering services and it attracting the brightest physicians and health care professionals in the country.
Western Nevada College, a four-year school whose transformation in the last the short years has been
dramatic and now serves more than 3,500 students on the Carson City campus, alone, and more than 5,000 in seven western counties that covers nearly 18,000 square miles. Western now offers its first own four-year degree program and has three others as a cohort with Nevada State College in Clark County. Western is a center of research through the
Jack C. Davis Observatory and has partnered with the University of Nevada Desert Research Institute and NASA. Western offers athletics for rodeo, women's softball, and men's baseball and has opened doors to the Joseph Dini Library, a Student Service Center and can seat 500 fans in the John L. Harvey baseball stadium overlooking the Eagle Valley, whose western wall is the Sierra.
